Before diving in to any kink, it’s a good idea to understand what you’re getting into. Hypnosis isn’t like the movies, it isn’t mind control… but it’s also more than just roleplay. So, here are some safety tips for enjoying hypnosis videos and audio files.

• In order to keep your play fun and avoid doing things to yourself you may have to work to undo later, take some time to learn what you’re putting into your mind.
  • Read content labels, summaries, and transcripts if available.
  • Consider listening awake / without participating before allowing yourself to go into trance with a file.
  • Once you are confident in your ability to reject suggestions and wake yourself to stop a file you’re no longer enjoying, it will be safer to explore more freely. For some, this exercise of their agency when engaging with hypnokink comes naturally. Others may struggle with self-control at first. With practice, everyone can develop these skills.
• Know your likes and limits, and respect your self-consent.
• Make sure you listen in a safe environment.
• Adjust to keep your body comfortable. Remember, this is possible even when “frozen” or otherwise constrained by hypnotic bondage! Some people even adjust for comfort without noticing or remembering they have done so, to enhance the experience.
• Have water nearby to drink after, or even during, a trance session.
